Program Title: Training that Connects with All Thinking Styles


Date: Thursday, AUG 23, 2012, 5:00PM-7:00PM

Description:
This presentation will discuss the different brain/thinking styles we have, how they came to be determined and how to ensure that our training and development engages, connects and aligns with all the thinking styles to have the greatest outcomes for performance in any diverse group of learners.

In addition to the objectives below, the ASTD Competencies that will be emphasized in this program are the following:

ASTD Competency Model Area: Delivering training, Designing learning, Improving human performance, Coaching
ASTD Competencies:
Interpersonal, Business and Management, Personal.

Learners will:
  • Be able to identify the different thinking styles,
  • List the characteristics of these thinking styles,
  • Explain how these thinking styles effect learning and engagement
  • Compare and contrast ways to connect with, train and develop the different thinking styles, in all of us, to deliver the most impactful training and/or development to any group of people.

Program Fees:
Members Cost: $25
Non-Members Cost: $40

Definition of member: If you are a member of ASTD National, but you are not a member of the ASTD Valley of the Sun chapter, you are a non-member ($40). If you are member of the ASTD Valley of the Sun chapter, you are a member ($25).

Presenter Bio:

Steve Jacobs
 is a highly skilled professional with more than 25 years of drug, biotech, teamwork, leadership and training experience for U.S. and International markets.   He has a unique combination of Clinical Supply Chain, Regulatory, Logistics, Analytical, Quality, and Business Development expertise.  Goal-directed, results-oriented, with strong leadership, management and strategic planning background, Steve has been successful in operations process efficiency assessment, restructuring and change management.  He has worked in large pharmaceutical organizations; a virtual medium-sized Pharma company, start up vendor clinical supplies company and was CEO of a startup company in the fire safety space. His leadership background includes his service to the US as an Army officer, helicopter and airplane pilot and logistics manager and soldier. Steve has spent more than two decades in growing leadership roles with greater accountability, responsibility, headcount and shareholder duties.  
 
Steve is gregarious, personable and an excellent speaker, trainer and relationship builder.  As a leader of productive multidisciplinary teams in matrixed global organizations, his direction set new standards while maintaining quality and balanced operating costs.  He has strong problem resolution and project coordination abilities, providing consistent direction for customers, companies, employees, CROs, and other stakeholders.  Steve has exceptional writing and communication skills; and is an excellent global teamwork facilitator who knows the challenges of culture and virtual teams.
