If you are a member of ASTD National, but you are not a member of the ASTD Valley of the Sun chapter, you are a non-member ($40). If you are member of the ASTD Valley of the Sun chapter, you are a member ($25).

Description:

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) has been a “buzz” phrase for several years, but many people still aren’t sure what it actually means. What exactly is emotional intelligence? How does it impact your success as a leader/manager? How can you increase emotional intelligence?

If you are interested in answering these questions and learning more about how emotional intelligence can improve your life, don’t miss this session.

In addition to the objectives below, the ASTD Competencies that will be emphasized in this program are the following:

ASTD Competency Model Area: Facilitating Organizational Change, Improving Human Performance;

ASTD Competencies: Building Trust, Communicating Effectively, Analyzing Needs and Proposing Solutions, Driving Results, Demonstrating Adaptability, Modeling Personal Development.

Learners will:

  • Define emotional intelligence.
  • Discuss how emotional intelligence impacts your success.
  • Identify specific ways to practice and increase emotional intelligence.

This workshop is great for anyone who wants an introduction to the concept of emotional intelligence and to learn some basic techniques to help increase it.

Biography:

Julie Binter is an Education Specialist V in the Administrative Office of the Court’s (AOC) Education Services Division. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Minnesota, is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management and Development from Fielding University, and is a certified trainer of emotional intelligence. Julie joined the AOC in June 2008 as a Training Specialist for the Arizona Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program, where she trained new volunteers, developed core competencies, and facilitated diversity workshops. Since moving to Education Services in September of 2010, she has been developing and providing training across several programs and is currently the staff lead for the Judicial Staff Education Committee. Prior to joining the AOC, Julie worked at the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and for the Educational Psychology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
