Don’t Try to Change Me – Just Understand Me

NOTE: Lunch is provided.

Description: Participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and understand his/her communication style/strengths and learn how to apply the knowledge to improve supervisory, leadership, and/or management skills.

In addition to the objectives below, the ASTD Competencies that will be emphasized in this program are the following:

 

ASTD Competency Model Area: Building trust, communicating effectively, demonstrating adaptability, modeling personal development

 

ASTD Competencies: Career planning and talent management, coaching, improving human performance

Learners will:

  • Identify participants’ communication style/strengths

  • Evaluate negative/positive impacts of their communication style 

  • Understand active listening skills – it is more about silence (listening) than noise (talking)

  • Develop a personal plan of action to increase effective communication and trust in the workplace

Program Fees:

Members Cost: $25
Student Member Cost: $15
Non-Members Cost: $40

Definition of member: If you are a member of ASTD National, but you are not a member of the ASTD Valley of the Sun chapter, you are a non-member ($40). If you are member of the ASTD Valley of the Sun chapter, you are a member ($25).
