Creating a Global Learning Organization

NOTE: Dinner is provided.

Description: It is widely accepted that the complexity of business today requires organizations to continually learn and transform in order to stay competitive. Peter Senge originally coined the term ‘learning organization’ in the early 1990’s in his popular book “The Fifth Discipline” to describe the characteristics of these highly adaptable organizations. Since that time, many companies have strived to become learning organizations. However, this worthwhile and challenging goal must be revisited with a global view, in light of the increasingly globalized world we are living in in the 21st century. The global view extends beyond simple geography to include a global view of diversity and inclusion.

Program Goal / Objectives: This session will discuss how the five features of a learning organization can be developed using a global perspective. We will look at systems thinking, personal mastery, mental models, shared vision, and team learning. We will examine case studies of successful global learning organizations and discuss guiding questions and practical tips to help participants create their own.

Learners will:

  • Reframe the design of a learning organization with a global view
  • Discuss how global learning organizations can better master the increasingly complex
    considerations of diversity and inclusion
  • Analyze case studies of successful global learning organizations
  • Review the five features of a learning organization while adding global perspective and
    considerations
  • Gain practical tips and insight to create a global learning organization
