How to make a payment without using Paypal: When you get to the part in Paypal that says "do you want to create an account?" click “no” and then it will say “pay now”.  This allows you to pay without needing to create an account in PayPal.

NOTE: Lunch is provided.

Description: This topic explores ways of helping organizations and leaders to understand the benefits of focusing on the development of their employees.  It includes evidence to support development and interactive tools and techniques to help with the process.

Audience Level:

For all levels within learning and development.

Learners will:

  • Explain why development is important to employees and organizations.
  • Identify at least 3 methods that ensure development success.
  • Discuss how to plan an effective development activity.
  • Describe how to keep development a priority.

In addition to the objectives above, the ASTD Competencies that will be emphasized in this program are the following:

Definition of member: If you are a member of ASTD National, but you are not a member of the ASTD Valley of the Sun chapter, you are a non-member ($40). If you are member of the ASTD Valley of the Sun chapter, you are a member ($25).

About the presenter:

Robin HollisRobin B. Hollis, Ed.D, MBA 

Dr. Hollis is a successful global learning and talent management executive and thought leader.  Her experience spans regional and global industries of healthcare, banking, information technology and high tech distribution.  She is Founder & President of The Hollis Collaborative (http://theholliscollaborative.com) a Leadership, Mentoring, & Workforce Development Consultancy. She has extensive background and expertise in organizational development, human resources, executive development and learning, operations, systems and project management.  Her 2012 dissertation is entitled “A Study of Generation Y in the Workplace: Values, Leadership, and Workplace Leadership Decision-Making”.  Her current research focuses on values, culture, organizational intelligence, economic workforce development and workplace spirituality.

 

Her recent article titled “What’s your Organization IQ?” was published in the June 2013 issue of the Chief Learning Officer Magazine. She is also the author of “Leader-As-Teacher: A Model for Executive Development Success” published in the Organizational Development Journal (Vol. 25, summer 2007).  She has contributed numerous articles and podcasts for trade publications and online magazines focused on learning and organizational development initiatives.  Dr. Hollis is also a speaker and presenter on various topics of leadership.  She has presented at a number of conferences including, Business & Professional Women’s Foundation, ESI, ASTD, Girl Scouts and LearnCamp-Phoenix.   As a learning executive, Dr. Hollis’ teams have been recognized in Training Top 125, LearningElite, and ASTD’s Best Award.
 

Involved in her community, Dr. Hollis serves on the boards of the Ahwatukee-Foothills YMCA and Arizona Career Pathways – a labor intermediary focused on long-term economic workforce development, and she is a leader with the Valley Interfaith Project in Phoenix.  She holds memberships in ASTD and SHRM among others.  In addition, Dr. Hollis is an ordained Episcopal Deacon in the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona.   Through serving in liturgical roles, the Rev. Dr. Hollis focuses her ministries on youth, mentoring, and outreach. 

 

Dr. Hollis was awarded her doctorate in 2012 through the Chief Learning Officer Program in Work-based Learning Leadership from the Graduate School of Education/Wharton Center for Human Resources at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.  She is a George F. Baker Trust Scholar, with an MBA from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College.  She can be contacted at: robin.b.hollis@gmail.com.
