We challenge you to submit your interactive session ideas for ATD Valley of the Sun’s 2017 Conference and Expo!
Request for Presenters 200 L&D, OD, Coaching, and Talent Development professionals from across the Valley will gather at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass Conference Center in Chandler for engaging discussions, enlightening content, and valuable networking opportunities.
What’s in it for you? Session facilitators receive a complimentary conference registration (a $225 value). You’ll be helping other achieve success by sharing your professional ideas and insights. You’ll have the opportunity to facilitate groundbreaking discussions and be recognized by your peers as a thought leader.
Conference Theme The 2017 ATD VOS Annual Conference theme is Connect to Work Better. With this theme we hope to bring out the many ways our purpose and work can be impacted by positive interactions and stronger connection.
Conference Objective This conference will provide professionals from all experience levels a strategic and concentrated opportunity to learn how to be more effective in their respective roles. It will foster personal and professional growth opportunities for conference participants and provide a variety of opportunities for networking.
Conference Attendee Profile Each year, conference participants are a mix of young professionals, experienced practitioners, and learning leaders representing corporations and entrepreneurs. Session content should factor in this broad range of experience.
Designing and Naming Your Session You are encouraged to consider this theme as part of the context of the session content, should your proposal be selected. However, to help participants select the most appropriate sessions to attend be sure your session title and description clearly communicate the information that will be covered in the session.Equipment and Materials For all sessions an LCD projector, screen, and microphones (2 table, 1 podium, and 1 wired lavaliere microphone). Please note that in order to use the LCD projector you are required to bring your own laptop. If you have handouts, you are responsible for printing them. Please make explicit any special equipment needed when submitting your proposal in the section entitled, “Special Requests.” This includes if you are using an Apple product as special adaptors are needed.

Additional information and FAQs
Presentation commitment By submitting a proposal, you are confirming your commitment to deliver the presentation in-person at the 2017 conference should it be accepted, as well as such commitments for all presenters included in your session. No remote presentations will be possible (e.g., using Skype, teleconferences, or other technology aided modalities). You are responsible for your own travel expenses.
As early as possible and prior to submission, consider any potential travel or funding constraints that would prevent you or any of your session’s presenters from delivering the presentation listed in the submission, should it be accepted. Please do not defer these considerations until only after you learn if your session has been accepted.
Presentation information Please note that if your proposal is accepted, the information you provide during the online submission process is directly used to populate the program. Be certain to enter accurate and up-to-date information.
Scheduling of sessions Individuals are expected to participate at the time scheduled by the Conference Committee. Please make explicit any time constraints when submitting your proposal in the section entitled, “Special Requests.” The Conference Committee will consider all constraints when scheduling presentations but may not be able to accommodate all requests. Special requests will not impact your likelihood of acceptance.
Presentation distribution It is expected that presentation materials will be shared with attendees upon request, and thus submitters should ensure that they have the legal right to present the material included in the submission. Thus, it is critical that no proprietary information be included in proposals. If permission must be obtained from a sponsoring organization (e.g. your employer) to allow the presentation of data or other information, permission must be secured prior to submission.
Notification of acceptance The Conference Committee will notify the submitter about acceptance or rejection, including reviewer comments, no later than August 18, 2017.
Commercial content Presenters should be sensitive to the commercial nature of products and/or services discussed in the context of their sessions. Presentations that focus on the commercial intent of a product or service rather than on the science and practice are not permitted.
