Low-Tech Leadership Practices for the High-Tech Era

Price: $25 for ASTD VOS members / $40 for non-members
Description: Many of our accomplishments and most of the results we achieve in business happen through our communication and conversations with others. In today's high-tech environment where text message chats seem to outnumber good-old-fashioned phone calls though, more and more of our leadership is happening via email and iPhones. That clearly is not conducive to providing feedback - positive or constructive (aka "negative") - to others, which is arguably one of the most difficult things any CEO or senior executive ever does! During this workshop, we will explore people's differences and practice using a proven framework for communicating with and providing effective feedback to others in a way that is less contentious, less confrontational, and best of all produces better business results.

Not all people are alike, so not all business situations - or working relationships for that matter - demand the same type of communication approach. Understanding our natural styles as well as other people's individual preferences, then, is critical for us as leaders to communicate more effectively with those around us and achieve greater successes together. Through our enhanced awareness and broader capabilities as more versatile, multi-dimensional leaders, we will be able to transform our experiences at work and enhance our relationships with others to turn our visions into reality.

In this highly interactive and engaging workshop, Dr. Lurey will help participants:
  • Evaluate their best experiences working with their fellow leaders and team members
  • Understand their different Work Style Profiles and then apply these "animal tendencies" to their work relationships
  • Discuss the importance of leadership on organizational performance and review several proven techniques for adapting their natural communication approaches
  • Leverage their individual strengths and unique talents to be multi-dimensional leaders capable of giving positive and constructive feedback to anyone
  • The program is based on a fun and engaging Work Style Profiles inventory that participants will complete at the beginning of the session and then practice applying together.
